Every tool, and what each one is for Questions Frequently asked Domain names Can I manage DNS for domains I host elsewhere? Yes. Our DNS panel manages domains registered with EnterraHost and zones hosted on Cloudflare, connected through Cloudflare's API. You can keep Cloudflare's network and still edit records from the same panel as everything else. Business email What do I get with a mailbox? Mail, calendar and contacts, in webmail that also covers notes, tasks and files, with scheduling and snooze built in. Filtering is in front of every inbox, and SPF, DKIM and DMARC are set up for you. Mailboxes can also be bought with shared calendars and contacts, booking links, threaded team chat, real-time document editing, and desktop and mobile sync, so a team can edit the same document at once rather than emailing versions around. Can I mix different mailboxes? Yes. Every mailbox is bought on its own, so one domain can run any mix of Lite and Pro. Both tiers come as 10 GB or 50 GB, and any mailbox can grow in 10 GB blocks to 200 GB. The tier sets the features and the size sets the room, and you pick the two separately, so a Pro mailbox can be 10 GB and a Lite can be 200 GB. Any mailbox can be upgraded or downgraded between the tiers. One person can move to Pro and back to Lite without touching anybody else's. If someone needs calendar sync or document co-editing, that mailbox is a Pro and the rest can stay Lite. You are not buying a bundle sized for a team that is not yours. How does storage work? Each mailbox comes as 10 GB or 50 GB, and any mailbox can grow in 10 GB blocks up to 200 GB, billed per block monthly. You add space where it is actually needed rather than moving everyone up a tier. Mailbox size and mail archiving are separate things. The size is the live mailbox, while archiving is a longer retention of mail that has already been delivered. Mail protection What is Mail Protection? It filters mail before it reaches your server. The filtering engine is SpamExperts, and we provision it on your domain and support it for you, so you deal with us and we deal with the platform. It is sold as three separate filters, inbound, outbound and archiving, so you buy only the ones you need. How Mail Protection works . Do I need my own mail server for it? Yes. Mail Protection is a gateway. It filters mail and passes it on to a mail server you already run, and it does not provide mailboxes. If you do not run your own mail server, business email is the better fit, because filtering is already part of every mailbox. EnterraMon and EnterraSEO What is EnterraMon and EnterraSEO? EnterraMon watches whether your site is up, fast and secure. It checks uptime every five minutes from five regions, flags broken pages, HTTP errors and expiring SSL certificates or domains, and alerts you by email and SMS. A daily report scores performance, SEO, security and accessibility, downloadable as a PDF. EnterraSEO answers a different question, which is whether you are being found. It runs a weekly site scan and a monthly SEO analysis covering Core Web Vitals, crawlability, on-page issues, keyword rankings and backlinks, then reports on a schedule. EnterraMon is about the site you have. EnterraSEO is about the visitors you are not getting yet. EnterraMon and EnterraSEO both run reports on a schedule, so you are told what changed rather than having to go looking. EnterraEdit What is EnterraEdit? A rich text editor you drop into a page with one script tag. There is no build step and no framework, so it fits whatever you have already written instead of asking you to restructure around it. The editing engine is ProseMirror, and the toolbar, theming, form sync, dialogs and content rules on top of it are ours. It ships as two builds, an MIT core you can self host and a hosted build served from our CDN. Try the live demos . Enterra.Work What is Enterra.Work? Enterra.Work is our services marketplace, and it is separate from the hosting side of EnterraHost. It connects businesses that need work done with the people who can do it, and it is free to use. There are no credits to buy, no fee to bid on a job, and no cut taken for the privilege of trying. onTheMove, the local leads side, launches first, and you can join as a business or as an affiliate. It is still being built, so the wait list is open for early access . Get started Your domain, hosting and email in one place. Set up in under five minutes. Free migration, free SSL and a 30-day money-back guarantee. Search a domain Business Email Add mailboxes and nothing else. Used here it forced the label and the hint to sit INSIDE that pill beside the input, so they overlapped each other and the box collapsed — which is exactly what the CSS has warned about since the support form: ".eh-field ... cannot hold a textarea or sit under a label." `.eh-form-row` / `.eh-form-label` / `.eh-form-input` is the component that exists for this, added for that reason. --> Which domain will these mailboxes use? Questions Domains, answered. How quickly does a new domain start working? Most registrations are live within minutes. The registration itself completes in seconds, then the new zone has to be published and picked up by resolvers, which usually takes a few minutes and can take a few hours in the worst case. Your DNS records can be set up straight away, so the domain resolves as soon as the change propagates. Do I have to pay extra for WHOIS privacy? No. WHOIS privacy is free on every extension that allows it. A few registries do not permit WHOIS redaction at all, and on those extensions your registrant details are public. The search results tell you which is which before you order. What is a premium domain, and is it worth it? A premium domain is a name the registry has priced above the standard rate for its extension. They are usually short, a real word, or a name plenty of people want. The premium comes from the registry rather than from us, and it applies to renewal as well as the first year, so it is a recurring cost rather than a one-off. For most people it is not worth it. Another name on the same extension, or the same idea on a longer one, does the same job for a fraction of the money. If you do want the name, the results mark it as premium and show the price before you order. Can I transfer a domain I already own? Yes. Unlock the domain at your current registrar, then start the transfer with us. Most extensions also issue a transfer code, sometimes called an EPP or auth code, but a few do not use one and need the domain unlocked only. Whichever it is, you approve the move by email, and it does not complete without that. Do not assume a transfer adds a year. Many extensions do add one on completion, while others carry your existing expiry date across unchanged. A .co.za transfer is one of those, and it costs nothing to move. Can I manage DNS for domains I did not buy here? Yes. If you point a domain's nameservers at us we will manage its DNS records. You can also connect a Cloudflare zone through their API and manage those records from the same panel, so one place holds every domain you run. What happens if I do not renew my domain? We email you before the renewal date. If it lapses there is a grace period in which you can still renew at the normal price, and after that the registry may hold it for a further redemption period at a higher cost. Once that ends the name is released and anyone can register it. Are domains covered by the money-back guarantee? No. A domain registration is billed by the registry the moment it completes and cannot be undone, so domains are excluded once provisioned. Can I point my domain at a website I host somewhere else? Yes. The nameservers are yours to set, so you can point a domain at hosting anywhere, or keep it on our DNS and change only the records that matter. Plenty of customers register here and host elsewhere, and nothing about registration ties the domain to hosting with us. Do you send renewal reminders before a domain expires? Yes. Reminders go out well before the renewal date, and again closer to it, so an expiry should never be a surprise. You can also set a domain to renew automatically, which is worth doing for anything carrying your brand or your email. What happens if my domain expires without renewing? It stops resolving, and mail to addresses on it starts bouncing. Most registries allow a grace period where you can still renew at the normal price, then a redemption period at a higher cost, after which the name is released and anyone can register it. The grace period and the redemption fee differ per extension, which is why the reminders matter more than the recovery. Can I sell or move a domain to someone else? Yes. You can transfer a domain to another registrar, or move it to another account here, at any time. Transfers out need the domain unlocked and an authorisation code, both of which are in your control panel. A recently registered or recently transferred domain may be held for a short period before it can move again, which is a registry rule rather than ours. Are my registrant details visible to anyone who looks up my domain? Not if the extension allows redaction. WHOIS privacy is free here and is applied automatically on eligible extensions, so a lookup shows our contact details rather than yours. A few registries do not permit redaction at all, and on those your details are public from the moment the domain is registered. What actually is a domain name? It is the address people type to reach you, and it is rented rather than bought. When you register example.co.za, you are buying the exclusive right to use that name for a set period, usually a year at a time. You do not own the name itself, and if you stop renewing it, it goes back into the pool and anyone can take it. Think of it as a lease rather than a purchase. How does a domain lookup work? Your browser asks a resolver to translate the name into an IP address, and the resolver works down a hierarchy to find the answer: the registry that runs the extension tells it which nameservers hold your records, and those nameservers return the address. Every step is cached for a while, which is why a change you make does not appear instantly everywhere. Most changes propagate within minutes, and the worst case is usually a few hours. What is the difference between registering a domain and hosting a website? They are separate things and you can buy them from different companies. The domain is your address; hosting is where the files live. Registering here and hosting somewhere else is perfectly normal, and so is the reverse. The only thing that links them is the DNS records you set, which tell the domain where to find the site and where to deliver mail. How does renewal work? Domains are registered for a fixed term, commonly one year, and you renew before it ends. We send reminders ahead of the date, and you can set a domain to renew automatically so it is never missed. Renewal is a separate charge from registration and, on some extensions, the renewal price differs from the first-year price, which is why the search results show both. What makes a good domain name? Short, easy to say out loud, and hard to mistype. Two or three words that read as a phrase beat a string of initials, and a name you can spell after hearing it once is worth more than one that looks clever on paper. Avoid hyphens where you can, avoid doubled letters that blur together, and avoid strings of repeated characters. As a rule, if you have to explain the spelling to someone over the phone, the name is working against you. Should I use hyphens or numbers in a domain? Usually not. A hyphen is easy to forget and hard to say, so people who hear your name will type it without one and reach somebody else. Numbers have the opposite problem: they are ambiguous when spoken, because four and for, and two and to, are indistinguishable out loud. Both work if your name genuinely contains them, but choosing one to make a taken domain fit is a compromise you keep paying for. Should I check for similar domains before registering? Yes, and it is worth ten minutes. Look for names close to yours that already exist and offer something similar, because a customer who half-remembers your address will land on theirs. Watch for a doubled letter, an added word, or a different extension carrying the same idea. Two businesses trading as similar names on similar extensions is how confusion, lost customers and occasionally lawyers begin. Could my domain name infringe someone else's trademark? It can, and it is worth understanding how. Under ICANN's dispute policy a trademark holder has to prove three things: that they hold rights in a mark, that your domain is identical or confusingly similar to it, and that you registered and used the domain in bad faith. They must prove all three, not one. Registering a generic word like a colour or a town is not automatically a problem, because no single business owns it. Deliberately going after a known brand, or registering a misspelling of one to catch its traffic, is where disputes are won against the registrant. What should I do if the name I want is taken? First, check whether the owner is actually using it. A parked name and a working business are different situations: the first is sometimes for sale, the second is not. If it is in use, changing extension is usually quicker and cheaper than negotiating, and changing the name slightly is often better still. Buying a name from its owner is possible, but expect to pay considerably more than a registration, and treat any asking price as a starting point. Get started Claim the name before someone else does. Every mailbox works with any client over IMAP, POP and SMTP. Calendar and contacts sync is available too, through ActiveSync, CalDAV and CardDAV, so mail, calendar and contacts stay in step across desktop and mobile. Do I get webmail? Yes. Every mailbox includes full webmail with email, calendar and contacts, plus notes, tasks and files. Pro adds shared document editing in the browser. How does storage work? Each mailbox comes as 10 GB or 50 GB. You can add storage to any mailbox in 10 GB blocks, up to 200 GB per mailbox, billed per block each month. Can I keep my existing email address? Yes. We migrate your existing mail, calendar and contacts for free, and you keep the address you already use. We schedule the cutover with you so nothing is missed. Can I use more than one domain? Yes. Domain aliases let one mailbox receive mail for additional domains, and user extensions give you plus-style addresses without extra mailboxes. Is email covered by the money-back guarantee? Yes. Business email, mail protection and shared hosting all carry a 30-day money-back guarantee, and domains and SSL certificates are excluded once provisioned. EnterraMon Pro works differently. It starts with a free month on the real product, so there is nothing to refund. Can I send from my domain before the email is set up? No, and it is worth knowing why. Mail sent from a domain that has no SPF and DKIM records published looks like forgery to most receiving servers, so it lands in spam or is refused outright. Setting up the DNS records we give you, before you start sending, is what makes your mail arrive. What is SPF and DKIM, and do I have to set them up? They are DNS records that prove a message really came from your domain. We give you the exact values to publish, and your host or DNS provider is where you add them. Without them, mail from your domain is far more likely to be marked as spam, so this is not optional in practice even though nothing stops you skipping it. Can I have a catch-all address that collects everything? Yes. A catchall takes any message addressed to your domain that does not match a real mailbox, which is useful for spotting a mistyped address or holding mail for a former employee. It also collects a lot of spam addressed to made-up names, so it is worth pointing at a mailbox you check rather than one you rely on. What happens to my mail if I stop paying? The mailboxes stop accepting new mail, and mail sent to them starts bouncing. Your existing messages are not deleted straight away, so the service can usually be reactivated and the mail recovered, but anything sent while it was suspended is lost. If you are moving elsewhere, set up the new service before cancelling this one. Can I set up out-of-office replies and forwarding? Yes. Out-of-office replies and autoresponders are configurable per mailbox, and forwarding can send a copy of incoming mail to another address or redirect it entirely. Both are things you control yourself, so a holiday reply does not need a support ticket. Do I need technical knowledge to run this? Not for day-to-day use. Creating mailboxes, setting a catchall, adding an alias or turning on an out-of-office reply are all point-and-click in your control panel. The one part that needs care is the DNS records at setup, and we give you the exact values and support you through publishing them. Add mailboxes and nothing else. Source: https://enterrahost.com/mail-protection/ Inbound filtering priced a month Clean mail, before it reaches your server. Mail Protection by SpamExperts sits in front of the mail server you already run. Your MX records point at the filter, mail is checked on the way in and on the way out, and only the mail you want carries on to your own infrastructure. The engine is SpamExperts, which reports blocking more than 99.93% of spam with false positives in roughly 0.001% of cases. Set up filtering Compare business email ✓ Inbound filtering included ✓ Quarantine and allow lists ✓ Outbound filtering optional ✓ Archiving on request Before you order This is for domains that already run their own mail server. Mail Protection is a gateway. It filters mail and passes it on, so it needs somewhere to pass it to. It does not provide mailboxes. If you do not run a mail server, business email is the better answer. Every mailbox comes with spam and virus filtering and archiving already switched on, so there is nothing extra to buy or point anywhere. Compare business email Ask which fits How it works Your mail takes one extra hop. Nothing about your mailboxes changes. The filter is a layer in front of your existing setup, not a replacement for it. 1. Arrives You point your MX records at our filter. Mail for every address on the domain comes to us first, and we give you the exact records to publish. 2. Filtered The sending server is validated first, so known bad senders are refused outright. What gets through is then scored, and spam, phishing and malware are stopped. 3. Delivered Anything legitimate is relayed to your mail server as normal. Your mailboxes, users and client settings stay exactly as they are. Pricing Three filters, priced separately. Inbound filtering is the default and the only one you need to start. What is in it Built for people who run mail. The engine is SpamExperts, which protects mail for hosting companies and businesses worldwide and keeps its own threat data current in real time. Two-stage filtering The sending server is checked before the message is accepted, then the message itself is scored. Most junk never gets accepted in the first place. Quarantine you can act on Release a message, release and train the filter so it learns, or release and allow the sender. Bulk actions when there is a pile of them. Allow and block lists Rules per domain or per address, so a supplier can reach one person without opening the door for everyone. Logs you can search Find a message by sender, recipient or subject. See what happened to it, and release it without leaving the dashboard. Continuity while yours is down If your mail server is unreachable, mail is held and delivery is retried. It is not bounced back at the sender the moment your server has a bad day. Archive when you need it Every message kept, encrypted and searchable, with an audit trail. Useful when a regulator, a lawyer or a customer asks what was said. Setup What you actually have to do. One DNS change for inbound. Outbound needs one on the sending side too. We give you the exact values in your dashboard rather than leaving you to find them. the row layout needed is gone with it: with the icon on its own line there is nothing left to sit beside. --> Point your MX records Replace your MX records with the ones we provide. Remove the old ones, because leaving them in place means only some of your mail gets filtered. Trust the delivery host Tell your mail server to accept mail from the filter. Otherwise it may treat your own filtered mail as suspicious. Adjust SPF if you send through us Outbound filtering sends mail through our relay, so your SPF record needs to say so. We give you the value to paste. Two things surprise people during the switch. Your first few messages can be delayed by ten to fifteen minutes while the filter learns your mail server, and that settles down after the first handful. DNS changes can also take up to 48 hours to be seen everywhere, so filtering may not cover every sender immediately. Questions Mail Protection, answered. Who actually runs the filtering? The filtering engine is SpamExperts, an email security platform used by hosting companies and businesses worldwide. We provision it on your domain and support it for you, so you deal with us and we deal with the platform, including the quarantine, the DNS records you need and anything that goes wrong at three in the morning. Do I need my own mail server for this? Yes. Mail Protection is a gateway, so it filters mail and passes it on to a mail server you already run. It does not provide mailboxes. If you do not run your own mail server, our business email is the better fit, because filtering and archiving are already part of every mailbox. Will this change my mailboxes or my users? No. Your mailboxes, users and existing settings stay where they are. The filter is a layer in front of your mail server, and legitimate mail is relayed to it as before. Only your DNS records change. Which filter should I start with? Inbound filtering. It is the default and it stops the vast majority of what people are actually complaining about. Add outbound filtering if you want protection against a compromised mailbox sending spam in your name, and add archiving when you need a retained, searchable copy of your mail. Why does archiving need outbound filtering? Archiving keeps a copy of mail in both directions, so both directions have to be routed through the filter before there is anything complete to archive. We will not sell you archiving on its own, and the order form will not let you combine them that way. What happens to mail that gets blocked? Most of it lands in quarantine, where you can review it and release anything that should not have been stopped. Releasing it can also train the filter, so the same message from the same sender is less likely to be stopped next time. Quarantined messages are deleted automatically after two weeks. A message refused at the connection stage is never accepted at all, so that one cannot be recovered. Can I allow a sender that keeps getting blocked? Usually yes, with an allow list entry that applies to the whole domain or to a single address. There is one exception worth knowing. An allow list entry turns off content filtering for that sender, but it cannot override a sender that is on a real time blocklist or whose mail server is badly configured. Those messages can still be refused. Can I move across from another spam filter? Yes. The change is the same one you would make for any filter, which is updating your MX records. We give you the records to publish, and it is worth keeping your old filter in place until mail is flowing cleanly through the new one. Is there a contract? No. Mail Protection is billed monthly or annually and you can stop it whenever you like. If you stop, your MX records need to point back at your mail server so mail keeps arriving. How long does it take to set up? Changes take effect when the new MX records propagate, which is usually under an hour and occasionally a few hours. Mail sent during that window is still delivered - it reaches whichever server the sender's resolver still has cached, and both the old and the new path accept it. You do not need to take mail offline to make the change. Will this slow down or block my legitimate mail? It is a gateway, so every message passes through one extra hop. In practice this is not noticeable. The filter is on a fast network and adds milliseconds, not seconds. On false positives, the default policy is deliberately conservative - anything uncertain goes to quarantine rather than being rejected, so a wrongly flagged message is recoverable rather than lost. Who can see and release quarantined mail? You can. Quarantine, the allow and block lists and the logs are all under your control, not ours. You decide what to release, what to block and what to leave alone, and you can change any of it without asking us. We provision the filter and support it, but the day-to-day decisions are yours. Does outbound filtering affect my sending reputation? It helps it. Outbound filtering stops a compromised mailbox or an infected machine from sending spam under your domain, which is the usual way a domain ends up on a blocklist. Filtering the outbound path is what keeps that from happening, and it is also why archiving requires it. What does the filter not catch? It cannot save a sender whose own mail server is misconfigured or whose IP is on a real-time blocklist. An allow list entry overrides our rules, not the wider internet's, so those messages can still be refused before they reach us. It also will not fix a mailbox that has been compromised from the inside - that needs the password changed as well. What does inbound filtering actually do? It sits in front of your mail server and inspects every message before it arrives. Spam, viruses, phishing and mail from known-bad senders are stopped or quarantined, and only what passes is passed on. Your mail server never sees the junk, which means less load on it and a much shorter inbox for your users. Can I add inbound filtering if I already have spam filtering? Yes, and it will work, but it is not something we suggest. Two filters in a row means two quarantines to check, two sets of logs, and a blocked message that either system could have held — so you end up asking which one took it. If your current filter is doing its job, the sensible move is to replace it rather than stack on top of it. What does outbound filtering actually do? It inspects mail leaving your domain as well as arriving. That catches a compromised mailbox or an infected machine sending spam under your name, which is the usual reason a domain ends up on a blocklist, and it stops the mail before it damages your sending reputation. It also gives you a record of what was sent, which inbound filtering alone cannot provide. Do I need to change anything to send through outbound filtering? Yes, and this is the part that catches people out. Outbound filtering only works if your mail actually passes through it, so your sending server has to relay through the filter's outbound host. If you control the SMTP server, that is a configuration change you can make. If your mail is handled by us or by another provider, you usually cannot — you do not have access to the relay settings, so the mail never reaches the filter and outbound filtering has nothing to inspect. What does archiving actually keep? A copy of every message in both directions, indexed and searchable, held independently of your mailboxes. That matters because it survives things your mailbox does not, such as a deleted message, a departed employee's account, or a mailbox that was compromised and cleaned out. It is a record rather than a backup, and it is what you reach for when somebody asks what was said and when. Why can I not buy archiving on its own? Because it is not possible, not because we will not sell it. Archiving keeps everything in both directions, so it needs to see outbound mail as well as inbound. With no outbound path through the filter, there is nothing to archive on that side and the record would be half complete. Archiving is therefore only offered together with outbound filtering, and the price reflects both. Can I archive mail on a service I already use elsewhere? Only if you can send your outbound mail through the filter's outbound host. If you use our business email, or another provider's mail system, you generally cannot change that relay — so archiving is not available on top of it, however much you might want it. Where archiving is genuinely needed and the outbound path cannot be changed, the workable answer is to move the mailboxes onto a service that includes it. Do I need the archiving add-on if I only want a retention record? Probably not. If what you actually need is the ability to recover a message a user deleted by mistake, business email already covers it: every mailbox includes archive recovery, for the last 30 days on the standard service and 365 days on the fuller one. The separate archiving add-on is for a full independent record of every message in both directions, which is a different and larger thing than recovering one deleted message. Get started Filter the mail before it costs you a morning. Take it out on one domain first. If you do not run a mail server at all, start with business email instead and get filtering from day one. A site is a domain or hostname you want monitored. Lite covers 2, Pro covers 5 to 20, Business covers 25 to 65, and Agency covers 100 or more. If you run out, every paid tier lets you add more in blocks of 5, 10 or 15. How often does it check? Uptime is checked every five minutes on every paid tier, from the city you choose. Hardware and performance are tested on the same five minute cycle, and SSL certificates and domain registrations are re-checked every thirty minutes. Separately, a full report is compiled once a day covering performance, SEO, security and accessibility, and that is the report you can download or schedule. How will I be told when something breaks? By email and by SMS. You choose who receives them. On Lite and Pro you get three alert contacts across your plan, and on Business and Agency you get three per site, which is what you want if different sites belong to different clients. What does it do about SSL certificates and domains? It watches both and warns you before they lapse, so you are not finding out when a browser starts showing a warning to your visitors. Expiry warnings escalate at 21 days, 14 days and 7 days, then again on the final day, and they go by email rather than burning a text message. This is included on every paid tier. What exactly is white labeled? The PDF reports and the email templates, on Business and Agency. You can also schedule reports to be sent to your clients directly, and send them through your own mail server so they arrive from your address rather than ours. How do I claim the free month? Use the free month form on this page. Leave your email address, and the code is sent to it. There is nothing to pay up front and no card is needed to get the code. How does the free month work? Leave your email and we send you a code. Apply it to any EnterraMon Pro plan and the first month is free, with no card needed to get the code. The code is single use. When the free month ends you carry on at the normal price unless you have canceled, and you can change or cancel at the end of the cycle. Can I try it without paying? Yes. The full test runs free on enterramon.com with no account, where you pick a speed profile and choose to test from one region or five. It gives you the same performance and SEO detail the daily report contains. Can I change plans later? Yes, and you can add sites at any point without changing tier. If you are on Lite and need a third site, you add a block rather than moving up a whole tier. Is there a 30 day money back guarantee? No, and you do not need one here. Every plan starts with a free month instead, which is thirty days of the real thing before you are charged. A refund window only matters if you have to pay to find out whether something works, and with EnterraMon Pro you do not. The free month is the guarantee, and it is the better version of one because you keep the reports it produced either way. Is there a contract? No. Billing is monthly or annual and you can stop whenever you like. Annual billing costs twelve months for the price of ten. If you would rather be sure first, take the free month. That is thirty days on the real product before you pay anything, so you are not committing to something you have not used. Do I get a discount on domains? Business and Agency include 5% off domain registrations and renewals, which stacks with the rest of your account. It is applied automatically. Get started Stop finding out from a client. If the average is close to the speed of light for that distance, the network is not your problem. 2. If loss or jitter shows up Loss and jitter mean a fault rather than distance. A traceroute from the same region shows which hop it starts at, and whose network that hop belongs to. 3. If the network looks fine Then the delay is the server itself. Source: https://enterrahost.com/tools/broken-link-checker/ Easy utilities Broken Link Checker Crawls up to 35 pages of your site, checks your sitemap against search-bot best practices, and flags broken links, broken images, and missing ALT text. Run Checks up to 35 pages, seeded from both your homepage's links and your sitemap. Larger sites will only have a portion crawled in one run. Crawl Results https://example.com Pages Crawled 0 Sitemap URLs 0 Broken Internal Links 0 Broken External Links 0 Redirects Found 0 Possibly Blocked 0 Broken Images 0 Missing ALT Text 0 Sitemap Issues 0 Not In Sitemap 0 Not Reached By Crawl 0 Pages Skipped 0 Your sitemap is large, so only a portion of it was checked in this run. Broken Internal Links Broken External Links Redirected Links Possibly Blocked Links Broken Images Missing ALT Text Sitemap Issues The distinction that matters Dead is not the same as refused. A crawler that treats every non-200 status as broken will hand you a list that is mostly wrong, and you will stop reading it. Genuinely dead A 404 means nothing is there. The page was moved, deleted or never existed, and every visitor following that link hits a dead end. This is the list worth acting on, and it is usually short. Possibly blocked A 401, 403, 429 or 500 is something answering rather than nothing being there. Plenty of perfectly healthy pages refuse automated requests. Check these by hand before changing any of them, because most will be fine. Crawl budget The sitemap check finds more than missing pages. Cross-checking the crawl against the sitemap does two obvious things. It finds a page the crawl reached that the sitemap does not list, and a sitemap URL the crawl could not reach. Both are worth knowing, and the second is the more interesting of the two, because a URL you have advertised and cannot reach is a contradiction you published yourself. It also surfaces pages carrying a noindex tag or a canonical pointing at a different address. Neither of those is a broken link, and both waste crawl budget and send search engines a mixed signal about which page should rank. They are the kind of thing that sits unnoticed for years because nothing errors. Fix the causes, not the list. If twelve pages report the same dead link, that link lives in a template, and repairing twelve pages by hand leaves the thirteenth to come back tomorrow. Limits What this crawl does not cover. 35 pages, not all of them It crawls a sample from the address you give. A problem in a section the crawl never reached will not appear, so run it from a different starting point if you have a specific area in mind. A sample in time It reports what it found when you ran it. A link that breaks next week is not in this result, and nothing here is scheduled. Run it after a deploy rather than trusting an old report. Pages behind a login Anything requiring a sign-in is invisible to the crawl, which sees the login page and stops. That is a limit of unauthenticated crawling rather than a fault in the tool. Next Check what a crawler is allowed to see. A crawl reports what it can reach. The rules file decides what any crawler may reach in the first place, and a single stray line there can hide a whole section. The sitemap this crawl was seeded from is worth validating too, since a broken one wastes the crawl. All tools Test a robots.txt file Validate the sitemap --- # IPv6 Test. Check Your Connection and Your Site Readiness. Source: https://enterrahost.com/tools/ipv6-test/ Easy utilities IPv6 Test Check whether your connection has working IPv6, which protocol your browser actually prefers, and how IPv6 latency compares to IPv4 across five global regions. No target needed, this tests the connection you are reading this on. Run Test If you have no IPv6 the test takes about five seconds while that probe times out. A timeout is a result, not an error. Verdict : Browser Preferred : IPv6 IPv6 Checking Address round trip : ms IPv4 Checking Address round trip : ms IPv6 vs IPv4 by Region Each region shows both families' round trip time. When a family is not available, the reason is shown instead of a time. Region IPv4 IPv6 Difference Individual Check Details Check Result Time (ms) Why five regions Partial IPv6 is the failure that hides. Most IPv6 faults are not a switch being off. They are a route that works to one part of the world and not another, and that is exactly the shape a single test cannot see. IPv6 is the least exercised part of most networks. It is often carried on a different path from IPv4, through different peers, sometimes by a different team. So a provider can route v6 to Frankfurt perfectly and drop it on the way to Singapore, and every test run from one location will report that everything is fine. The person who notices is the visitor in the region that is broken. They get a slow failure, a timeout, or a page that will not load at all, while everyone else sees a site working normally. That is why this test runs from all five regions and reports them separately, rather than picking one and calling it an answer. Read the table, not just the headline. IPv6 working in three regions out of five is not a pass with a small blemish. It means a share of your visitors cannot reach you at all, and it will not show up on any test run from the wrong city. Your site Is a site ready for IPv6? The test above is about the connection you are on. This one is about a domain: whether its DNS publishes an IPv6 address at all. Run Looks up the A, AAAA and CNAME records. It does not contact the host, so it reports what DNS says rather than whether the address answers. Host : IPv4 : IPv6 : Records The catch An AAAA record is a promise, not a proof. This is the part worth understanding. Publishing an IPv6 address tells the world you are reachable over v6, and DNS has no way to check whether that is true. No AAAA record The site is IPv4 only. Nothing is broken. Every visitor is reached over v4, and a visitor whose network carries no IPv4 simply cannot get there. AAAA record, working path Dual stack, and the intended outcome. Each visitor arrives over whichever family their network supports, with no configuration on their side at all. AAAA record, broken path The worst of the three. A v6-capable visitor is sent to an address that does not answer, while a v4 visitor sees a working site and never knows. This is why a record should only be published once the path has been tested. Next Reachable is not the same as fast. Once both families answer, the question becomes which one is quicker from where your visitors are. That is a measurement rather than a lookup. All tools Measure latency from five regions --- # Link Visualiser. See How Your Pages Link Together. Counted as ordinary links they give every entry in the menu the same inbound count, and the graph ends up describing your template instead of your linking. This tool separates the two, and only the second kind says anything about how your pages relate. Menu links Present on nearly every page because the template puts them there. They help a visitor get around and they can help a crawler find a page, but no page chose to point at anything. Body links Written into a page on purpose, usually because the page is relevant there. These carry context as well as position, which is why they are the ones worth counting and fixing. What counts as orphaned Only pages you asked to be indexed. An orphan here is a page that is in your sitemap, carries no noindex tag, and has no internal links pointing at it. All three conditions matter. A page you have deliberately excluded from search is not orphaned, however few links it has, and listing it would bury the pages that genuinely need attention. The list separates two cases, because the fix differs. A page the menu reaches needs an editorial link from somewhere relevant. A page with no route in at all needs finding first, since a visitor following any link on the site never arrives there. Crawling politely Disallowed paths are not followed. The crawl reads your robots.txt first and does not fetch a path the wildcard group disallows, so a section you have closed to crawlers is not queued and not reported on. That applies to the sitemap seeding as well, so a URL your sitemap lists inside a disallowed path is skipped rather than fetched. Two limits are worth knowing. Only the wildcard group is read, so a rule aimed at one named crawler is not applied. And matching is by path prefix, so a rule containing a wildcard is treated as a literal string and may not match what you intended. This tool crawls as a plain HTTP client rather than as a search engine, which is why a page you have blocked may still appear in the graph if a link to it is found on a page that is allowed. Next A link only helps if it resolves. A page can be linked from all the right places and still send a visitor to an error if the target moved. The next check follows the links and reports what breaks. All tools Check for broken links --- # MAC Address Lookup. Find the Vendor Behind a Hardware Address. Source: https://enterrahost.com/tools/mac-address-lookup/ Easy utilities MAC Lookup Identify the manufacturer of any network device by its MAC address. Powered by the IEEE OUI database with real-time vendor details. Lookup Reads the public IEEE registry of manufacturer prefixes. Randomised addresses will return nothing, by design. OUI Details AA:BB:CC:11:22:33 Registered Vendor Loading... MA-L MAC Address Block Large Assignment Details How to read an address Half of it is the maker. A MAC address is 48 bits, written as six pairs. The first three pairs, 24 bits, are the OUI and belong to one organisation. The last three are chosen by that organisation, which is why two devices from the same maker usually agree on the first half and differ in the second. Three sizes of assignment The IEEE does not only issue 24 bit prefixes. MA-L is 24 bits, MA-M is 28 and MA-S is 36. A smaller block can sit inside a larger one, so the longest match is checked first and the result says which registry answered. Two bits decide everything The low bit of the first octet marks multicast, a group rather than a device. The second lowest marks a locally administered address, which is what a randomised phone address is. Neither is registered, and neither is a lookup failure. Expectations What a vendor name does and does not tell you. It is the registrant The prefix belongs to whoever registered it, which can be a chipset maker or a contract manufacturer rather than the brand printed on the case. Virtual machines inherit A virtual network adapter carries the prefix of the platform hosting it, so it resolves to the hypervisor vendor rather than to any physical hardware. It reveals nothing else This reads a public registry of prefixes. It cannot tell you where a device is, who owns it or what it has been doing, and a randomised address deliberately carries none of that. No vendor found Is there a private MAC address range? Not the way IPv4 has one. There is no reserved block of MAC addresses set aside for private use. The mechanism is a single bit, the second lowest of the first octet, and it marks the address as locally administered. Any software may set it. Once that bit is set the address is not globally unique, so the IEEE never allocates it and no vendor can be registered against it. A randomised phone address uses it. So do most virtual machines and containers. Seeing nothing in the registry for one of those is the correct answer, not a fault. Virtual machines, either way Whether a virtual adapter resolves depends entirely on which prefix the platform chose. A hypervisor using a registered block reports its vendor by name, which is usually how you find out a machine is virtual in the first place. The ones below all resolve here. Registered prefixes used by common hypervisors, as held in this site registry Prefix Registered to Platform 00:0C:29 VMware, Inc. VMware 00:15:5D Microsoft Corporation Hyper-V 00:16:3E Xensource, Inc. Xen 08:00:27 PCS Systemtechnik GmbH VirtualBox BC:24:11 Proxmox Server Solutions GmbH Proxmox Others deliberately use a locally administered prefix, so they never resolve. QEMU defaults to 52:54:00 and Docker uses 02:42. Neither appears in the registry, and neither ever will. Next Tracking down what is on the network. A vendor name is usually the start of a question about a device you cannot identify. The next step is usually to find out whether it is answering at all. Results describe the path at the moment you ran it. Reading the result Average. The mean round trip across every reply. This is the number people mean when they say ping, and the one to compare between regions. Jitter. How much the time varies, shown as mean deviation. Steady is good. Wild swings make calls and video choppy even when the average looks fine. Loss. The share of packets that never came back. Even 1 percent hurts, because TCP reads loss as congestion and slows the whole connection down. Path. The address that answered and the network announcing it. If that is a CDN edge, you are measuring the edge rather than the origin. What to expect Light in fiber travels at roughly 8 microseconds per mile (5 microseconds per kilometer), and it must go there and back. That sets a floor no provider can beat - which is why a host in Sydney will always feel far away to a visitor in London. Approximate best case round trip time between our regions Between Best case round trip Feels like Same city Under 5 ms Instant Same country 5 to 25 ms Instant Same continent 20 to 60 ms Immediate Across an ocean 120 to 180 ms Noticeable Antipodes 250 to 300 ms Sluggish These are floors, not targets. Anything meaningfully above them points at congestion, a long detour or a saturated link somewhere on the path. Good to know A silent host is not a dead host. Plenty of firewalls drop ICMP deliberately, and a CDN will answer from whichever edge is nearest rather than from the machine you were thinking of. No reply means no reply, not necessarily an outage. Test from where your visitors are. A server that answers in 4 ms from Cape Town can take 190 ms from Sydney. Run the test from each region you sell into, then decide whether one location is enough. Next If the numbers look wrong. A slow average points at distance. Loss and jitter point at a fault, and the quickest way to find whose it is, is to follow the path hop by hop. All tools Check the server and its certificate --- # Robots.txt Tester. Check Whether Crawlers May Fetch a URL. Source: https://enterrahost.com/tools/robots-txt-tester/ Easy utilities Robots.txt Tester Analyze your site's robots.txt file for format errors, crawl rules, and test real paths against the rules as a crawler would read them. Run Reads the robots.txt at the site root. Public addresses only, and redirects are not followed. Analysis Results https://example.com Format Status Valid User-Agents Found 0 Total Rules 0 Crawl Rules Test a Path Matched in your browser against the rules above, so changing the path costs nothing. Googlebot Googlebot Bingbot GPTBot Any other crawler Googlebot Bingbot GPTBot Any other crawler Test path The part people get wrong Robots.txt controls crawling, not indexing. This is the single most expensive misunderstanding in the file. A URL you disallow is not removed from search, and can still rank. A crawler that is blocked never reads the page, so it never sees a noindex instruction, and a page linked from elsewhere can be indexed on the strength of that link alone. To block crawling Use robots.txt. This is what it is for, and it is the right tool for keeping a crawler out of paths it wastes time on, such as internal search results or faceted URLs. To keep a page out of the index Use a noindex robots meta tag or the equivalent HTTP header, and let the page be crawled so the instruction is actually read. Blocking the crawl and asking for noindex at the same time cancels the second request. Matching Three rules that decide the answer. Prefix, not exact Disallow /private also blocks /private-notes and /private/report. A path with no wildcard and no end anchor matches anything that starts with it, which is why a rule that looks tidy can be wider than intended. Longest match wins Allow and Disallow are not a first-match list. Every rule is tested and the most specific one, measured by pattern length, decides. A short Disallow cannot override a longer Allow. Allow wins a tie When an Allow and a Disallow match with the same pattern length, the allow rule wins. That is the behaviour in RFC 9309 and it is the opposite of what most people expect when they write the two lines in the wrong order. Next Once crawling is right, check what it finds. A correct robots file does not tell you whether the pages behind it resolve. Neither does the sitemap it names, unless that file is valid too. Check either one next. All tools Validate the sitemap it names Check for broken links --- # Server Check. Status, TLS Certificate and Response Time. Does it answer The HTTP status the server returned, and the address family it used. A response of any kind proves the web server is alive, which is a stronger claim than a ping. How fast Total time for the request, with the TLS handshake broken out separately. A slow handshake and a slow application are different problems with different fixes. Is the certificate sound The TLS version, who issued the certificate and how many days are left on it. An expired certificate turns a working site into a browser warning. Which family works IPv4 and IPv6 are tested separately. One can work while the other fails, and the failing one is only visible to the visitors unlucky enough to be on it. Two traps What an outside check cannot see. A CDN hides the origin If the site sits behind a CDN, the request never reaches your server. Every number here describes the edge nearest the region you chose. Your origin can be down and this check will still look healthy if the edge has a cached copy. A blocking firewall looks like a failure A request refused by a firewall can come back as a 403 or a 429 rather than as a connection error, and a network that drops the packets silently can look like a dead server. Read the status code before assuming the machine is down. Next When the server is fine but it still feels slow. A clean result here means the server answered quickly and the certificate is sound. If visitors still wait, the delay is either distance or the page itself. All tools Measure the latency from each region --- # Sitemap Validator. Check a Sitemap Against the Protocol. Source: https://enterrahost.com/tools/sitemap-validator/ Easy utilities Sitemap Validator Checks a sitemap against the protocol and tells you what to change. Parse errors, limit breaches, bad dates and broken index entries, each with the fix. Run Give it a domain and it checks any Sitemap line in robots.txt, then the usual addresses starting with the root. Or paste the full address of a sitemap anywhere on the site. No problems found https://example.com/sitemap.xml Document Sitemap HTTP Status 200 Size 0 B URLs Listed 0 Fix This 0 Worth A Look 0 Minor 0 Findings Child Sitemaps How the sitemap is found The root first, then robots.txt, then the usual suspects. Nearly every sitemap is at the site root, either /sitemap.xml or whatever your platform generates by default. That is where a crawler looks first, and it is where this tool ends up on the average site. A Sitemap line in robots.txt is checked before that guess, because a declaration is a statement about the site and a guess is not. It is what gets a sitemap found when it lives somewhere else, such as a platform that generates it at a subpath. With nothing declared, the usual addresses are tried in turn and the first one that returns a real document is the one reported. That starts at the root /sitemap.xml , then the WordPress variants such as /wp-sitemap.xml and /sitemap_index.xml , then a compressed or plain text sitemap. The result says which address answered and whether anything declared it. A declared sitemap on a different host is reported rather than fetched. A sitemap there is only valid when it is verified in the same search property as this one, and following it would mean this tool requesting any address the site owner cared to name. The failure nobody notices A sitemap that does not parse is silent. A sitemap is read as a single document. If one character in it is wrong, the parser stops and reports nothing at all, so every URL the file listed is lost rather than merely mis-described. The site looks like it has no sitemap, which is the opposite of the truth and points at the wrong problem. What breaks it An unescaped ampersand in a query string, an unclosed tag, or a character that is not valid in the declared encoding. Generating the file by hand or by string concatenation is what usually causes it, because both skip the escaping an XML writer would do. What a fix looks like Write & where you meant a bare ampersand, and build the file with an XML writer rather than a string. This tool reports the line number the parser objected to, which is the quickest way to find the one character that matters. Two limits, one file each 50,000 URLs and 50 megabytes. A single sitemap may hold up to 50,000 URLs and may be up to 50 MB uncompressed. Past either limit the file is invalid and the whole thing is discarded, not truncated. Larger sites split the URLs across several sitemaps and list those in a sitemap index. An index has its own failure mode. Each loc in it has to resolve to a real sitemap, and one dead child takes every URL inside it out of the picture without anything reporting an error. This tool fetches the children on the same host and reads each one. What this does not do This validates the document, not the pages. A sitemap can be perfectly written and still list URLs that 404, redirect or carry a noindex tag. That is a different check against real requests, and it lives in the next tool along. All tools Check the pages a sitemap lists --- # Traceroute. Follow the Network Path Hop by Hop From 5 Regions. A hop that is a few milliseconds slower than the one before it is normal. A hop that adds 150 ms in one step is the link worth asking about. Whether it is steady The three probes per hop show consistency. Tight numbers mean a stable link. Numbers that swing mean congestion, and congestion is what makes a connection feel unreliable. Whose network it is Each hop is labeled with the network that announces it. That turns a complaint into a specific question aimed at the right operator rather than at nobody in particular. Common confusion Things that look like faults and are not. Silent hops Routers routinely refuse to answer probes aimed at themselves while forwarding your traffic without complaint. A blank hop in the middle of an otherwise working trace is not a fault. A trace that ends at a CDN If the target is behind a CDN, the trace finishes at the edge nearest you and never reaches the origin. That is the design working correctly, not the trace failing. Next Once you know where it stops. If the path looks clean and the delay is still there, the network is not the problem. The next thing to check is the server itself and the certificate it presents. Adding 'unsafe-inline' instead works too, but is a wider permission than needed. Links and images are restricted to safe URL schemes at the schema level, so a pasted javascript: URL cannot be stored whatever your CSP says. Free and open source Take it, use it, change it. Source: https://enterrahost.com/hosting/ Shared Web Hosting), which is what Google reads for the breadcrumb rich result. A page does not have to draw a breadcrumb to declare one. --> Shared hosting Shared web hosting NVMe storage behind nginx, free SSL, free migration and daily backups, in the five regions our network tools already test from. The plans are being finalised. Plans Straight pricing. No surprise renewals. Our shared hosting plans are not finalised yet. Tier names are placeholders and the details will be published here when they are. Coming soon Lite Choose Lite — coming soon Coming soon Business Choose Business — coming soon Coming soon Agency Choose Agency — coming soon Not sure what you need yet? Start with a domain or move your mail across, and add hosting when it opens. Nothing here is a prerequisite for anything else. Included What every plan will carry. These are the commitments that do not change between tiers. The tiers will differ on capacity, not on whether your site is secure or backed up. NVMe storage Solid state storage on the PCIe bus rather than a spinning disk or a SATA drive, which is what makes a database-backed page feel instant rather than merely fast. Free SSL, auto-renewed A certificate issued and renewed for you, so the padlock does not lapse while nobody is looking. Renewal failures are one of the most common causes of a sudden browser warning. Free migration We move your existing sites, mail and databases across, usually within one business day, and we schedule the DNS cutover with you so the change happens when your traffic is quiet. Daily backups Taken every day and kept, so a bad plugin update or a deleted file is an inconvenience rather than a rebuild. Restores are something you ask us for, not something you have to script yourself. Five regions Cape Town, Frankfurt, St Louis, Singapore and Sydney. Pick the one nearest the people who visit your site, because distance is the part of latency no amount of tuning removes. 30 day money back If it is not for you, ask within 30 days and we refund it. Domains and SSL certificates are excluded once provisioned, because the registry bills us the moment they complete. Questions Hosting, answered honestly. When do the hosting plans go on sale? We have not set a date. The infrastructure is being built and the plans are not finalised, so publishing a date we then miss would be worse than saying nothing. Leave your address on the list and you will hear before it is public. Why is there no pricing on this page? Because there is nothing we can charge you yet. Every price on this site is read live from our billing system, and shared hosting is not in it while the plans are still being shaped. A number here would be a guess, and a guess is a number we would have to change later. What will the plans include? NVMe storage behind nginx, a free SSL certificate that renews itself, free migration of your existing sites and mail, daily backups, and a 30 day money back guarantee. The tier names Lite, Business and Agency are placeholders and the differences between them are still being decided. Can I buy hosting somewhere else and move later? Yes, and nothing else on this site depends on us hosting you. You can register a domain, run business email and filter mail through us today, then move the site across when hosting opens. A domain registered here is yours and can point anywhere. Where will the sites run? The same five cities our tools already test from, Cape Town, Frankfurt, St Louis, Singapore and Sydney, so what the network tools measure is the network your site would use. Start with what is ready today. Register the domain, set up business email and filter the spam now. Hosting slots in underneath the same account when it opens. It goes into the support queue, we reply by email, and every later reply stays on the same ticket so the whole history sits in one place. Do I need an account to open a ticket? No. Your name and email are enough, and we send the ticket number and every reply to that address. Your services, invoices, past tickets and billing details are all there, and it is the only place you need for anything to do with your account. What should I put in a ticket? The product, what you were doing, what you expected and what happened instead. Name the exact domain or mailbox if it is one of those, because most problems come down to a single record or setting. Paste error text rather than describing it. --- # What We Build. Website Pages and What Costs Extra. Source: https://enterrahost.com/webportfolio/ Home What we build. Almost any page a business needs. Here is the range, and the one rule that governs what costs extra, so you know before you order rather than after. Back to your bundle Your choices have been kept. Standard pages Every page type below is in the package price. There is no per-page extra charge for building one of these. The packages differ on how many pages they cover and on the structure around them, not on which kinds of page are possible. Home The first page people land on, built to say what you do and get them to the next step. About us Who you are, your team, your story, and the things that make people trust you. Services or products What you sell, with a page per service or a catalogue that lists them all. Contact Your details, a map, and a form that emails you rather than a third-party widget. Gallery or portfolio Your work, your premises or your products, in a layout that loads fast. Pricing Your rates or packages in a table people can compare at a glance. Blog or news Articles you can add yourself, with an index and individual post pages. FAQ The questions you are asked every week, answered once, with proper markup for search. Team or staff Profiles with photographs, roles and contact details. Testimonials or reviews What your customers say, laid out so it reads as proof rather than decoration. Booking or enquiry form A form that collects what you need and lands in your inbox, with a copy kept. Menu or catalogue A structured list, whether that is a restaurant menu, a price list or a product range. Location or branch pages A page per site, with its own address, hours and directions. Legal and policy pages Privacy, terms, cookies and returns, laid out and linked in the footer. Landing page A single focused page for an advert or a campaign, with nothing to distract from it. Coming soon or holding page Live while the rest is being built, so the domain is never dark. What costs extra. Custom development, a specific third-party integration, or anything needing code we do not already build. We tell you before we start, in writing, and you decide then. A standard page of any type above is the package price, with no extras. How the build works You do not need to choose the pages now. Pick the package that fits the scale, place the order, and one of our designers contacts you to agree the pages, the content and the structure. Nothing is decided up front that you cannot change with them. Allow one to two weeks. These are hand built and optimized, not assembled from a template. The designer will give you a firm timeline once you have agreed the scope, and you will see it progress rather than wonder. EnterraMon is included. Performance and uptime monitoring for the site, so you find out about a problem from a report rather than from a customer. One order Start with the bundle. Choose your domain, your mailboxes and the website package that fits. One of our own designers contacts you within a working day to agree the pages, the content and the timeline before any work starts. Build your bundle Ask about a specific page Examples Screenshots are on the way. We are putting together a set of examples to show here. In the meantime, tell us what you are building and we will show you relevant work and talk you through how we would approach it.
