Site Verification – Blue Raven Knowledge Base

The Site Verification tool (found under Blue Raven > Tools > Searchability > Site Verification) lets you verify ownership of your website with platforms like Google, Bing, Meta (Facebook), and Ahrefs, without editing your theme files or managing DNS records.

This is especially helpful if you’re not comfortable adding TXT records to your domain’s DNS settings or modifying your site’s header code.

Note: This feature is available in both the free and Pro versions of Blue Raven. No feathers are required.

Why Verify Your Site?

Verifying your site gives you access to powerful tools:

  • Google Search Console: Monitor indexing, fix crawl errors, and see search performance.
  • Bing Webmaster Tools: Track how Bing sees your site.
  • Meta Business Suite: Unlock domain branding and ad permissions.
  • Ahrefs: Connect your site to analytics and site audit features.

Verification proves you own or manage the site so these services can safely share data with you.

How Site Verification Works in Blue Raven

Instead of manually inserting HTML meta tags into your site’s <head>, Blue Raven adds them automatically when you provide your unique verification code.

You only need to paste the code portion (not the full HTML tag), meta name=”google-site-verification” content=”YourCode123″ toggle the service on, and save.

Best Practices

  • Only enable services you actually use—extra tags add unnecessary code.
  • Double-check your code—even one wrong character will cause verification to fail.
  • Clear your cache after saving if you use a caching plugin (like WP Rocket or LiteSpeed).
  • If you’ve already verified via DNS, you don’t need to use this tool—but it’s a great alternative if DNS feels too technical.

Troubleshooting

  • Verification fails?
Make sure you pasted only the code, not the full HTML tag or extra spaces. View your site’s source (right-click > “View Page Source”) and search for the meta tag to confirm it’s present.
  • Tag not appearing in page source?
Ensure “Switch On Site Verification” is enabled and that you clicked Save Settings.
  • Using another SEO plugin?
Avoid duplicate verification tags. If Yoast or Rank Math is also adding a Google tag, disable one of them.
