Mail Protection
Filtering in front of your own mail server: quarantine, allow and block lists, logging and optional archiving. These guides cover the records, the reports and the daily decisions.

Point your MX records at the filter
Send your inbound mail through the filter before it reaches your mail server. Which records change, what to check first, and how to back the change out.
Release a message from quarantine
Find a message the filter held back, read it in Mail Preview, then release it, train the filter or remove it. What each action does to the mail that follows.
Train and release a false positive
Train the filter on a message it got wrong, from quarantine or by uploading the original file, and know when training beats adding the sender to an allow list.
Tune the spam threshold in mail protection
Move the quarantine threshold in small steps, watch what gets held in the log search, and know which of the extra sender checks below it are worth turning on.
Read the Email Scout reports in mail protection
The scheduled report lists what the filter held and why, and each subject opens the message so you can release it, train the filter, or allow the sender.
Set up outbound filtering in mail protection
Route your outgoing mail through the filter, choose between an IP and a username, and add the SPF include without breaking the record you already have.
Whitelist a sender in mail protection
Add an address, a domain or a wildcard to the allow list, choose an address over a domain where you can, and remove the entry once it stops being needed.
Keep filtering while you migrate
Run both filters during the change, keep the old MX records until the new path is tested, and cancel the old service only once mail has flowed through it.
