Audit

Website Audit

One run that answers the three questions a slow site always raises. Is it slow, can search engines read it, and is it set up safely. Performance, the SEO crawl and the security headers in one report, with no account.

Reads the page the way a visitor and a crawler do, and writes nothing. The connection profile is recorded with the run and is not yet emulated, so the timings are real numbers from our server rather than a simulated phone.

Test from
Connection speed

The full walkthrough is in how to read a website audit, which numbers decide anything and which are there to be looked at.

On by default, and worth leaving on. The crawl is the half that explains why a page does not rank. Turn it off when you only want the performance numbers and want them quickly.

A summary of what was found, and a link to the report itself. No attachment, and the address is not stored.

What comes back

Four answers, one report.

How fast it renders

The time to first byte, the largest element on the page, the layout shift a visitor feels and the total blocking time. Then the part that matters, which is what is causing them.

Whether search can read it

The title, the description, the canonical, the robots directives and the structured data, followed by the crawl that shows which pages link to which and which are stranded.

Whether it is set up safely

Transport security, framing, content type sniffing, referrer policy and permissions. These cost nothing to set and are absent on most sites, which is why a scanner finds them.

What is broken

Links and images that do not resolve, and the difference between a page that is gone and one that merely refused this crawler. Only the first is something you have to fix.

Running it once, and running it always

An audit is a photograph. You need the film too.

This tool tells you what your site looks like right now. That is a real answer and it is the one you need before you change anything. It cannot tell you what changed last Tuesday, or that a certificate expires in nine days.

EnterraMon Pro

The same checks, every five minutes.

Uptime, response time, DNS, SSL expiry and mail records, watched continuously and kept as history. The audit tells you the certificate is fine today. EnterraMon tells you when it stops being fine, which is the difference between a report and a warning.

EnterraSEO

The crawl, on a whole site, over time.

The audit crawls what it can in one run. EnterraSEO crawls the site properly, tracks rankings and technical faults as they change, and reports the movement rather than a single snapshot. If the audit finds something, this is where you watch it get fixed.

Questions

The audit, answered honestly.

What does the audit actually check?
Four things in one run. How fast the page renders and what holds it back, whether search engines can crawl and understand it, whether the security headers are set, and whether the links and images resolve. Each finding says what is wrong and what to change, and the ones that matter are separated from the ones that are merely worth knowing.
Why do I choose a location and a connection speed?
Because a site is not slow or fast in general. A server in Cape Town answering in 40 ms locally takes 300 ms from Sydney, and the same page on a 3G connection behaves nothing like it does on fibre. The location and the throttle decide what the numbers mean, so they are part of the question rather than a setting somebody picked for you.
What is the SEO crawl and should I turn it on?
It fetches your pages the way a search engine would, follows the internal links, and reports the structure. It also checks what a crawler reads in the head, so titles, descriptions, canonicals, robots directives and structured data. Leave it on unless you only want the performance half, because it is the part that explains why a page does not rank rather than why it is slow.
How long does an audit take?
A single page takes under a minute. Turning on the SEO crawl makes it depend on the size of the site, because a crawl is a page per request, and the run is capped so that one large site cannot occupy it indefinitely. If the cap is reached the report says so rather than quietly reporting a partial site as whole.
What is the difference between this, EnterraMon Pro and EnterraSEO?
This is one audit, run now, with no account. EnterraMon Pro runs the availability and certificate checks on a schedule and keeps the history, which is the part one audit cannot give you. EnterraSEO crawls a whole site for search and tracks the changes over time. The audit is the version of both that answers a question today.
Can I get the report by email?
Yes, once the engine is connected. The report will be sent as a themed message with the findings in the body and the full document attached, so it can be forwarded to whoever fixes the site.
Will the audit change anything on my site?
No. It reads pages the way any visitor or crawler does, and it writes nothing. The only requests it makes are the ones needed to fetch the pages, the assets and the headers.
